New York 2010 Day 1: 24 hours in a day

Writing this at the end of a very long, but very enjoyable day that started at 3am UK time, and ended at 10pm US time (3am UK).
Apartment is both spacious and homeley, a combination that should make for an enjoyable 5 nights in the city.

First impressions of the city are fantastic, having never been to NYC before, the sheer size and spectacle of the buildings and architecture was amazing to behold. Grand Central station was our first stop, and while it didn’t quite live up to the plug Beyonce gives it in Telephone, it’s an incredible design feat to see first hand. The outside of the building was just as impressive too.

Times square, a place so often seen in movies, TV and music videos (Spice Girls 2 Become 1 being my obvious pick of them, is just as good as I imagined.

Walking up and down the broadway area, Starbucks in hand is the sort of thing you imagine New York to be. The M&Ms store being trumped by the full size ferris wheel in Toys ‘R’ Us was a real surprise for everyone.

Just walking around today was enough for me to know that my week in The City can only get better.

Keep on 808s & Formulae for each of my daily blogs, and look out next week (And on my new YouTube channel) for vlogs on my time in the city that never sleeps.
