A few years ago when the Grammys altered its rules for Dance categories to move away from the pop stars that had been winning the award each year (Rihanna, Madonna, Britney) this was a tough genre to predict. In 2015, it’s easy to pick out some major hits that are sure to make an appearance here, such as Lean On by Major Lazer, or the second Sam Smith/Disclosure collaboration. With quite a lot of overlap in the Dance Recording and Dance/Electronic Album I think my choices this year will be pretty on the mark.

I’d be surprised if Calvin Harris doesn’t score a double nomination here, while Disclosure have already scored a nomination in each of these categories before so I’d expect them to be featured for their second album. I’ve opted to include Lost Frequencies here too, even though it should technically be included as a remix, it was a huge hit here in the UK and I’m sure it was a big enough worldwide hit to be featured in Recording. The only other left field act I’ve gone for here is Jamie xx for Album. I have a feeling they may submit this album for the Alternative award instead, but either way it would surprise me if his name isn’t on the final list somewhere.

The hot favourites in both categories though are obviously Major Lazer and Skrillex & Diplo. Both had a massive radio hit in 2015, both more than capable of making it into one of the main song categories too. I’d say that the way that Where Are U Now successfully transformed Justin Bieber from a tween only act into a bonafide radio and mainstream artist will push the sway in their favour. Besides, Skrillex is already a Grammy favourite, having already won 6 awards. I’d assume that total will be 8 once February arrives.
